RUBIRIZI – Residents of Nyarubira, Busonga 1 village, Butoha Parish, Magambo Sub – County in Rubirizi district are working tirelessly to repair the River Kyambura bridge that was destroyed by heavy downpour.
River Kyambura bridge connects Magambo Sub County to Katanda Sub County but is now impassable and has always been the easiest transport means for local produce, school going children among other categorized businesses/people.
By press time, residents had mobilized themselves and were doing community work “bulunsi bwansi” by replacing the broken tree logs and timber.
One of the residents told this website that within the last two years, atleast five people drowned into the river while trying to cross using the bridge that has been in poor state adding that the heavy downpour worsened the situation than ever before.
Residents led by Busonga Vice LC1 chairperson Mr Kaparaga James and his counterparts thanked residents for their will to do community work and vowed to continue doing so until the top government leadership comes for rescue.
Kakama Joel Jawadu LC3 Chairperson Magambo Sub County thanked local leaders for the team work and requested the concerned government officials to respond in time to peoples’ concern of building for them a permanent/modern bridge.

Thanks goes to the team that worked on that bridge,it’s very disappointing that we have leaders from districts to the parliament who doesn’t care to poor people who always loose their beloved ones from that bridge,it was terrible and scary for me when lwas still young to cross that river why do we put big leaders up there other than satisfying their stomachs and their families than helping those people who choose you for their needs please,rubirizi people wake up and stop taking bribes of taking chopped soaps , packets of salt, and 5k in exchange of your votes choose people who will help you ❣️ thanks,
