Today, Buhweju celebrates two remarkable lives — 80 years for Mzee Sebastiano Keereere and 77 years for Mama Ludvina Keereere.
Born in Kishungwe, Buhweju, and now residing in Kikondera, the Keereeres have dedicated their lives to serving their community.
Both are professional teachers who served with distinction, including as headteachers and in other leadership positions. Their lives are a testament that education is not just about classrooms and certificates, but about building people, families and communities.

For decades, Mzee Sebastiano has been a prominent figure in the public and political life of Buhweju. He played a key role in the long struggle for Buhweju to attain its own district status. That dream was realized in July 2010 when Buhweju was curved out of Bushenyi District, bringing services closer to the people.
He went on to serve as the first District Chairperson of Buhweju after being elected in 2011, placing him at the centre of laying the foundation for the new district.
Yet their greatest legacy goes beyond political office. It is the family they have built, the learners they have taught, the values they have lived and the belief they have instilled that a community can transform when its people commit to service.
Buhweju today is different from the Buhweju of their youth. Electricity has reached many communities, more young people are joining universities and other institutions of higher learning, access roads have expanded, water coverage has improved and new opportunities for enterprise and wealth creation are emerging.
The journey is far from complete. Buhweju still faces challenges in roads, health, education, water and market access, including the lack of a tarmacked road. That is why the story of the Keereeres remains relevant.
Their generation reminds us that development is a journey. Each generation inherits a better Buhweju than the last and has a duty to leave an even better one for those to come.
At 80, Mzee Sebastiano looks back with gratitude on a life of service. At 77, Mama Ludvina looks back on decades of teaching, nurturing and building a family whose influence extends far beyond their home.
They are more than birthday celebrants. They are living history — teachers, parents, community builders and role models.
Happy 80th Birthday, Mzee Sebastiano Keereere.
Happy 77th Birthday, Mama Ludvina Keereere.

Mama Ludvina Keerere.
May you live to see the seeds you planted continue to grow — in your family, in education, in Buhweju and in generations yet to come.
Buhweju celebrates you. Buhweju thanks you.
