BITEREKO, MITOOMA – Bitereko Vocational Secondary School expects about 99 percent of its learners to have reported by the end of Monday in the second week of this term.
Speaking to this publication, Deputy Headteacher Mwesigye Obed said the turn-up is impressive, including new entrants admitted this term.
“This is a good turn-up since we are in an academic term. Students want to focus on revision and teachers want to finish the syllabus in time to give learners enough time to revise,” he said.

Mwesigye said the school understands the financial difficulties faced by many parents, especially peasant farmers, but stressed that the remaining one percent should return as soon as possible.
He urged parents facing financial challenges to negotiate payment plans with the school while ensuring their children return to class.
“I appeal to parents, local leaders and other stakeholders to support learners to return to school and make the most of the limited learning time available in the third term,” he added.
According to the UNEB timetable, O-Level examinations will begin on October 13, meaning learners who stay home even this week risk missing significant learning and revision time.
