RUBANDA, UGANDA – A tense situation unfolded in Rubanda District on October 23, 2025, when a group of boda boda riders attacked a home in Nyamatembe cell, Kacerere town council.
The riders claimed that a suspect named Denis, accused of stealing a motorcycle from Kabale town, was hiding in the home. However, upon reaching the area, Denis couldn’t be found, and the riders began damaging the fence.
The situation escalated, prompting locals to mobilize and confront the attackers. The boda boda riders were overpowered, and some of their motorcycles were damaged and thrown into a river. Police responded swiftly, retrieving 23 motorcycles and arresting nine suspects. Three boda boda men were injured and admitted to Muko HC IV.
The incident has raised concerns about the increasing violence and vigilantism in the area. The police are investigating the matter, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with authorities.
