Bushenyi, Uganda – The Greater Bushenyi Regional Police’s fire prevention and rescue department swiftly responded to a fire at Kyeibare Girls’ Secondary School in Kyeibare Ward, Mutuura Town Council, Mitooma District, at approximately 5:00 AM today.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a fire had broken out, damaging students’ belongings in four dormitories. The quick response prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest an electrical short circuit may have been the cause of the fire. The police are continuing their investigation and will provide further updates as they become available.
Police spokesperson, SP Tayebwa Apollo, urged the public and all educational institutions to prioritize fire safety precautions. The case reference number is 02/11/7/2025.
