Ntungamo, Uganda – The School Management Committee chairperson, Elder Francis Garuga, highlighted the struggles faced by Kacerere primary school, including understaffing and inadequate infrastructure, which hinder good performance. The school operates under temporary structures that are vulnerable to rain, and lacks a headteacher’s office, affecting management and assessment.
The headteacher, Ms. Rovence Bashekana, noted that pupils often miss classes to attend nearby markets, with boys being more likely to do so than girls. She appealed to parents to monitor their children and address absenteeism.
An old student, Mr. Milton Ndebesa, has organized a fundraising event to build a permanent classroom block and has donated seven medium desks to the school. He is seeking support from Ntungamo District officials to complete the project
