Bushenyi, Uganda – Igara East Member of Parliament, Michael Mawanda, recently demonstrated his commitment to the well-being of his constituents by distributing vital resources to the Muslim community in the area. On Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Rwentuha Moslems playgrounds, thousands benefited from food packages.
Imam Ausi Buhikire, representing Kyabugimbi Mosque, expressed gratitude for the support, noting the significant hardship faced by many during this time, and acknowledging the assistance of One Nation Uganda, the non-governmental organization that partnered in the effort.

Mwesigwa Hassan, the Muslim community liaison for MP Mawanda, highlighted this as further evidence of the MP’s dedication to his constituents, emphasizing that this was not an isolated act of generosity. Several recipients, including Tinkamanyire Yusifu, echoed Hassan’s sentiment, expressing heartfelt appreciation for Mawanda’s compassionate leadership.

Separately, at Kyiezooba Technical Institute, over fifty Muslim women received vital tailoring machines. These women, including Niwasima Fatima, Tukahirwa Faibu, and Rosette Mubangizi, expressed profound gratitude to MP Mawanda for his support, promising to utilize the machines to contribute to the economic empowerment of their community and reciprocate his generosity.

These initiatives underscore MP Mawanda’s commitment to serving the needs of his community and demonstrating genuine leadership in addressing both immediate needs and long-term empowerment opportunities for his constituents.
