Kyankwanzi,Uganda – Hon. Annet Katusiime Mugisha, Bushenyi District Woman MP, has called on government to strengthen National Medical Stores’ supply of drugs for non-communicable diseases, citing hypertension and diabetes as critical cases.
Speaking during the Kyankwazi leadership retreat, Hon. Katusiime raised the issue while discussing improvements in Uganda’s health sector. She told government officials that consistent availability of NCD medicines at health facilities is essential to reduce the growing burden of hypertension and diabetes.
The MP urged prioritization of NMS stock levels for chronic disease treatment, noting that gaps in supply force patients to buy expensive drugs from private pharmacies or forgo treatment.
