Bushenyi, Uganda – Hajji Iddi Basajjabalaba has taken an early lead in the Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality parliamentary race.
His 34-year prominence, coupled with his family legacy, has made him a household name even before voters got to know him personally.
As the son of prominent tycoon and businessman El Hajji Hassan Basajjabalaba, Hajji Iddi Basajjabalaba has demonstrated his commitment to developing the municipality.

His initiatives, such as providing bursaries and scholarships, launching free medical services at KIU Hospital, and implementing electricity projects and repairing water springs, have resonated with voters.
Hajji Iddi Basajjabalaba has also taken the time to visit all parts of the municipality, listening to people’s problems and seeking solutions. Local leaders have expressed gratitude for his visionary leadership, despite not holding any political seat.
Other aspirants for the seat include incumbent Hon Derrick Kabura, Ndyakira Nicholas, and Twinomugisha Edwin (Ikondere Rya’ Bushenyi), among others.
Hajji Iddi Basajjabalaba’s contributions to developing Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality and improving service delivery have positioned him as a strong candidate to represent the people in parliament from 2026-31.
