Bushenyi, Uganda – Thousands of supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) thronged the streets of Bushenyi district on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, to welcome President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The PLU, which evolved from the Mk movement, is led by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of Uganda.
As President Museveni arrived in Bushenyi, PLU supporters, donning branded T-shirts, sang praises of General Muhoozi while welcoming the President.
The main event was held at Bushenyi Main Stadium in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, where President Museveni met with leaders from all districts of Greater Ankole to assess the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.
PLU’s involvement in the event was evident, with supporters shouting “Our President, we welcome you to our home” throughout the district. Hon. Micheal Mawanda Maranga, MP for Igara East Constituency and National Head of Mobilization for PLU, likened the relationship between NRM and PLU to that of brothers, with NRM being the elder brother.
Mawanda thanked President Museveni for maintaining peace in the country and reiterated PLU’s commitment to peace, sustainable development, and a stable future in Uganda. He urged citizens to secure their future by supporting NRM and PLU.
