Bushenyi, Uganda- Residents of Katungu Cell in Ishaka Division, Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality are reeling from a sudden and destructive windstorm that ripped through the area this afternoon. The downpour, which began around 2 pm and lasted for nearly three hours, brought with it ferocious winds that caused widespread damage.
Eyewitness accounts paint a picture of chaos and near-disaster. Mr. Brian reported that the wind tore iron sheets from a timber structure owned by Kellen, narrowly missing Lydia, a resident of Ssazinga in Mitooma district, who was inside at the time. The force of the wind was such that it hurled iron sheets, iron bars, and timber through the air, injuring some residents while others fled in panic.
Nabaasa Molly, a businesswoman operating a bar in a house owned by Mr. Arthur, described the scene as terrifying. “We saw iron sheets and timber falling on us,” she recounted. “People were injured, and others ran away without paying their bills. We are all in shock; nobody knows what exactly happened.”

The storm left a trail of destruction in its wake, leaving many homes with damaged or completely missing roofs. While local authorities have been alerted, our reporter found no official response present at the scene at press time. The extent of the damage and the number of injuries are still being assessed. This is a developing story and we will provide updates as they become available.
End.
