Rubirizi, Uganda – Residents of Rumuri 2, Rumuri Parish, Kicwamba Sub County, Rubirizi District, are mourning the death of 70-year-old Barugahare Francis, who drowned himself in Lake Rwizongo on Sunday, April 12, 2025.
Before his death, Mr. Francis left a suicide note detailing a family dispute with his wife. In the note, he accused his wife (currently missing) of disrespect, stealing his 150,000 shillings (intended for school fees), and selling his two basins of coffee without returning the money.
LCI Chairman of Rumuri 2, Mwesigye James, reported the incident to the police, who dispatched a marine team to retrieve the body.
The body was recovered, and the Rubirizi Police CID, Madam Janet Nakacwa, confirmed the incident. She urged residents to avoid domestic violence to foster a safer community.
The body’s location for post-mortem examination was unavailable at press time.
