Farmers in Tororo Municipality are counting losses after a heavy downpour accompanied by hailstones destroyed crops and disrupted transport across the Eastern and Western divisions.
The Sunday afternoon storm damaged several gardens, with maize, beans and soybeans among the crops affected in Amagoro A Central.
By 6pm, hailstones were still visible in some gardens and along roads, while sections of tarmac remained flooded.
The damage has raised concerns about farmers’ livelihoods and the impact of the storm on transport in the municipality.
