The Kigezi Regional Police team, led by SSP Wabwire Alex, Regional Police Commander, has launched a one-week tour to engage with men and women in the Uganda Police Force (UPF). According to ASP Maate Elly, Police Spokesperson for Kigezi Sub Region, the tour aims to brief officers on key issues, including security of life and property, customer care, discipline, teamwork, and survival skills, as well as preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
The team, comprising senior officers from various departments, has been visiting districts in the region, starting with Kanungu and Rukungiri on Monday, followed by Kisoro on Tuesday, where they met with district police commanders, heads of departments, and officers in charge of sub-county police stations. They also visited Bunagana and Kyanika border points to engage with immigration, customs, and other security agencies.
ASP Maate Elly urged the public to adhere to the Electoral Commission’s guidelines during the nominations, which start tomorrow, to ensure a smooth and peaceful exercise. “We appeal to the general public to cooperate with us to maintain law and order during this period,” he added.

The tour will continue in Rukiga district on Wednesday, Rubanda district on Thursday, and conclude in Kabale district on Friday.
