KABALE – The territorial police in Kabale are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Richard Turinawe aged 25 years old a resident of Rwakakyeregye village, Bugarama parish, Kaharo sub county in Kabale district.
It’s alleged that the deceased has been involved in domestic violence to his parents at home several times and that, his parents have been reporting to LCs and police and that he just left prison of recent.
On the 11/04/2024 at around 2pm he attacked his step father Sinema wensislus and bit his mouth.
Wensislus together with Twekwasomuhangi Resta the biological mother of the deceased, saw it that had become too much and hired bodaboda riders from Nyakigugwe stage who cought Turinawe Richard and tied him up on the kiosk where his mother sells vegetables from.
It’s further alleged that, the two plus a step brother one Mugisha and many others got a hoe handle and used it to assault him one by one till he started asking for water to drink.
The step father untied him and left the scene while staggering to the water tap at Nyakigugwe primary school which is opposite the scene of crime.
Upon taking some water, he collapsed and died instantly.
The step father Sinema Wensislus together with his mom sent for a coffin where his body was placed, taken home
and was buried on 12/04/2024 at around 08:00am.
The information circulated until the O/c Kaharo police station was alerted about the matter and he accordingly informed the DPC kabale.
The Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate says a team of detectives were dispatched, the crime scene visited and documented, one Twekwasomuhangi Resta was arrested and others on the run and efforts are being put to see that they are arrested and brought to book.
Investigations on going and exhumation awaits.
