RUBANDA – Atleast eight Congolese Nationals have been confirmed dead in an accident at Kamukirwa Cell, Nyarurambi Ward, Rubanda Town Council along Kabale – Kisoro road.
The accident happened on Friday 29th November 2024 at around 10pm when the vehicle no. UBK 037K Toyota Hiace White in Colour failed to negotiate a sharp corner and fell approximately 100 metres off the road.
The Vehicle is suspected to have been carrying Congolese Nationals (escapees) to Rwamwanja Refugee Camp in Kamwenge district.
Among the deceased are ; three female juveniles, three female adults and two male adults whose identities are yet to be established. All bodies were conveyed to Kabale Hospital Mortuary by UG 7128M of Rubanda Covid emergency response.
The number of Victims is not yet clearly known but this website learnt that twenty nine were rushed to Kabale Regional Refferal Hospital by ambulances from Kisoro and Rubanda.
The Kigezi Police Spokesperson Asp Elly Maate confirmed the incident stressing that inquiries are still at hand.
