KABALE, UGANDA – Three students from Kabale University have been arrested and detained by the territorial police in Kabale District for allegedly torturing and indecently assaulting a 19-year-old woman, Princess Kyampeire. The incident occurred on September 19, 2025, after the suspects accused Kyampeire of stealing a phone and money from a fellow student’s residence.
The Incident:
The suspects, identified as Turyatunga Frugence, 28, Muhozi Denis, 24, and Tindyebwa Daudi, allegedly subjected Kyampeire to physical abuse and torture. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media, prompting swift action from the authorities.
Police Action:
The suspects were arrested on September 20, 2025, and are currently in detention. According to ASP Maate Elly, Kigezi Police Spokesperson, the police are conducting inquiries into the matter and will arraign the suspects before court to answer charges accordingly.
