RUTOTO, RUBIRIZI — Alcohol sellers and consumers in Rutoto Sub-county have been warned to drink responsibly and only during gazetted hours.
The call was made by Mr. Musoke Paul, the Sub-county Chief of Rutoto, during a sensitization meeting with residents of Bukyaba Village today.
He warned that anyone found drinking during working hours will be arrested and prosecuted. According to the new directive, alcohol may only be consumed from 12:00pm to 11:00pm. He urged residents to obey government regulations, respect the law, and work hard to keep the community peaceful and secure.

Mr. Musoke said the new regulations follow a meeting with security and local leaders. He noted that crime has increased due to excessive drinking, promiscuity, and bad behavior in the community.
He also warned bar owners and disco operators to stop playing music at high volumes that disturb public peace and violate the law.
Meanwhile, local leaders led by Mr. Tumusiime Silvester, LC2 Chairperson of Nyabubare Parish, and Madam Tusiime Winnie, the Women’s Chairperson, welcomed the security education. They thanked leaders for sensitizing residents, saying the training will help reduce crime and improve community behavior.
The leaders identified the main problems in the area as domestic violence, drug abuse, school dropouts, and alcoholism.
They noted that the training will help residents fight domestic violence in homes and avoid criminal activities in order to improve livelihoods. Leaders expressed confidence that residents will live peacefully, cooperate, and educate their children.
