NTUNGAMO, UGANDA – A campaign poster for Oscar T. Kamugira, the National Unity Platform (NUP) parliamentary aspirant for Rushenyi County, was found erected in the middle of the road in Rubaare Town Council, sparking discussions among residents.
The poster, which prominently features Kamugira’s image and campaign message, was placed in a high-traffic area of Omukidebe, Kagango Ward—an area known to be prone to accidents. Residents described the placement as dangerous and unfair to road users.
One witness, Mr. Gabriel Arahi, speaking on condition of anonymity, told our reporter, “It disrupted me personally. I saw the campaign poster placed in the middle of the road at around 6:35 a.m. in Omukidebe, which is already a spot for accidents.”

Some residents believe enthusiastic NUP supporters put up the poster to attract more attention for their candidate as the community eagerly awaits the upcoming elections. However, NUP Ntungamo coordinator and aspiring councilor for Kagango Ward, Mr. Isma Karyango, distanced himself and his fellow NUP members from the incident. He stated he was informed about the poster’s unusual placement by a concerned resident around 6:45 a.m., noting that the campaign materials had initially been erected in appropriate places the day before.
Mr. Karyango suggested that non-NUP supporters could have moved the posters to tarnish the party’s image in Rushenyi County and called for an investigation into the matter.
