RUKUNGIRI – The territorial police in Rukungiri have arrested two suspects and hunting for others, allegedly for assaulting a 62 years old Christine Tusimomwe and died moments later.
The suspects are Twinobusingye Monica and Kwesiga Jackson, residents of Rugunda cell Nyakabengo parish Nyakagyeme sub county Rukungiri district.
It’s alleged that ,Tumwebaze Benedicto and his wife Twinobusingye Monica had domestic misunderstandings for 7 years. They separated the beds and they have been sleeping in different rooms in the same house. This caused Tumwebaze Benedicto to fall in love with Tusiimeomwe Christine (deceased).
On the 24/05/2024 at around 8pm Benedicto invited Christine at his home, while the two were seated in the bedroom, Monica, her son Mugarura Gilbert, Kwesiga Jackson and another unknown person attacked them at around 9pm while armed with sticks and iron bars.
They assaulted her very critically, thereafter they fled the scene leaving both Tumwebaze Benedicto and the deceased in the house (scene). Tumwebaze Benedicto called aboda boda rider who took the victim at Kasoroza people’s clinic, where she was pronounced dead before admission.
Theafter, Tumwebaze Benedicto reported the incident at Nyakagyeme Police station, where
a case of murder was registered, crime scene was visited, examined and documented, the
two suspects were arrested and postmortem done.
The Kigezi Region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed this incident to journalists stressing that inquiries into the matter are still at hand.
