RUBIRIZI,UGANDA — Police and local leaders in Rubirizi District have warned residents of Rutoto Sub-county against criminal activities, vowing to arrest and prosecute offenders.
The warning was issued today during a community security policing meeting held at Omukyeya Trading Centre. The meeting covered more than six villages across Nyabubare Parish in Rutoto Sub-county.
According to Mr. Mujomba Jonan, the LC3 Chairperson for Rutoto Sub-county who chaired the security committee, the sensitization meeting aimed to create awareness on how to prevent domestic violence, theft, and land wrangles. He said it was also meant to educate residents on crime prevention.

Mr. Mujomba further urged residents and fellow leaders to promote good conduct, harmony, mediation, and productivity. He warned against wasting time on idle talk and gossip that destroys families, and instead encouraged people to engage in productive activities that develop their homes. He also called on residents to avoid conflicts that can lead them into crime.
Meanwhile, ASP Twesigye Bwire, the OC Station for Rutoto Sub-county, warned residents to desist from criminal activities that lead to arrest and prosecution. He noted that some residents are involved in theft, violence, and assault, acts that have turned them into criminals. He urged residents to be responsible and obey the law to remain free, safe, and avoid court cases.
ASP Twesigye issued a strong warning that security agencies have started operations to hunt down criminals. “Anyone found breaking the law will be arrested and taken to court,” he said. He cited rampant cases of livestock theft, drug abuse, excessive drinking, and crop theft that must stop.
He also expressed concern about the rising cases of domestic violence in the community, which he said have caused pain and division. He encouraged residents to work with Police to fight crime and report offenders so that they can be removed from society.
