MITOOMA, UGANDA – President Yoweri Museveni has called on residents in Mitooma district to prioritize job creation through agriculture and skills development, emphasizing that this is the key to fighting unemployment in the country.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Mitooma district, Museveni noted that most Ugandans are focused on having government jobs, yet these jobs are scarce and insufficient for the population.
The president was welcomed by a sea of supporters, including Ministers, CEC Members, Mitooma Members of Parliament, Hon Agasha Juliet Bashiisha, and Hon Captain Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda, who are touted as strong contenders in the upcoming elections. Regional religious leaders and NRM flagbearers, who were officially handed over flags by President Museveni, also turned out in force to show their support.

Museveni urged Ugandans to change their mindset and become job creators, stating that this approach can significantly reduce unemployment. Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire, the Ruhinda county member of parliament, echoed the president’s sentiments, cautioning residents against taking the country’s peace for granted, as it is the foundation of the development they are experiencing.
Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa, the Ruhinda North legislator, also emphasized the importance of protecting the country’s progress, warning against false promises from opposition groups aimed at destabilizing the country.
Moses Tumwekwatse, the Mitooma district NRM chairperson, expressed confidence that Mitooma district has benefited significantly from the government’s development initiatives and is ready to vote overwhelmingly for the president in the upcoming elections.
