KIRUHURA, UGANDA – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, has criticized Ugandans who enter politics for personal financial gain, stating that politics is a service, not a career.
He stressed that a leader who is economically struggling cannot effectively lead the country to prosperity, arguing that individuals should prioritize eradicating poverty in their own lives before joining politics.
Speaking to journalists from the Ankole Sub Region at the end of his campaign trail in Rwakitura, Kiruhuura District, Museveni emphasized the need for Uganda to expand its regional and global trade links, looking beyond its internal market.

He highlighted seven key building blocks established by the NRM, including peace, economic transformation, wealth creation, ICT, and services.
Museveni urged journalists to educate the public about social and economic transformation, rather than focusing on luxurious lifestyles. Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa commended the president for concluding his campaign trail in Ankole Region, pledging total support.

Journalists from the Ankole sub-region, including Ntungamo, attended the event.
