RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – During a dedication service for Senior Four and Senior Six candidates at Ryeru Seed Secondary School in Rubirizi district, religious and school leaders urged parents to prioritize education as a vital investment for their children’s future. The service, held at Nyakianza parish in Ryeru subcounty, brought together 129 candidates—100 from Senior Four and 27 from Senior Six—who were dedicated to their studies and upcoming national examinations.
Venerable Canon Rev Yorokamu Tayebwa, who officiated the service, highlighted the significance of education as a cornerstone of family wealth and prosperity. “Parents should invest in providing quality education to their children, as it is one of the most valuable assets they can pass on to the next generation,” he said. Rev Tayebwa also encouraged parents to ensure their children have all the necessary scholastic materials to excel academically.
Mr Katumba Gordon Javira, the Headteacher of Ryeru Seed Secondary School, reinforced this message by warning that neglecting education would hinder progress and prevent families from achieving their dreams. However, he expressed concern about parents’ delays in paying school fees, which has impacted the school’s operations. “For parents who do not prioritize education, they will not see any meaningful change in their future. It is through educating their children that they can realize their aspirations,” he emphasized.

Kyosimire Blair, a Senior Six candidate, expressed gratitude to the school administration for the knowledge and support provided during their studies. He noted that the students felt well-prepared for their final examinations, having completed their revisions and research in preparation for success.
The event underscored the critical role of education in shaping the future of young people and the need for collective efforts from parents, schools, and the community to support students in achieving their academic goals.
