RUBIRIZI,UGANDA – The National Water and Sewerage Corporation Rubirizi branch has warned residents against vandalizing and stealing government water pipes, saying offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.
Branch Manager Justus Nuwamanya issued the warning during the commissioning of a new clean water project in Kikuba Village, Ndekye Town Ward, funded by Bunyaruguru MP Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo.
Nuwamanya urged residents to use the water responsibly and stop tampering with the system.

“Tampering with pipes is a criminal offense under government law. No one is allowed to cut or destroy pipes. Anyone found stealing government water or vandalizing the system will be arrested,” he said.
He said NWSC, together with security agencies and local leaders, has started patrols. Offenders will be taken to court and prosecuted.
Nuwamanya thanked Hon. Cadet Benjamin for working closely with NWSC and contributing resources to bring safe, clean water to Kikuba Village. He said the project will reduce water-borne diseases and save residents time.
Beneficiary Kasande Merab commended the MP for delivering clean water to the village.
“Hon. Cadet Benjamin is a caring leader who has shown love for his voters. Children used to drown in Lake Kigezi, which increased school dropouts. Now children are no longer at risk of drowning, and girls and women are safer since the clean water is near their homes,” she said.
She called on other local leaders to emulate Hon. Cadet in addressing water shortages across the district.
Ndekye Town Ward Lady Councilor Hon. Kyosimire Agnes said the project will improve health and livelihoods and help families engage in productive work such as bricklaying.
She noted that the project will reduce the time spent fetching water and allow women and children to focus on education and income-generating activities.
