NTUNGAMO, UGANDA – Police in Ntungamo are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Posiano Sunday, a self-employed cobbler in his late 50s, who hanged himself in his rented room.
According to his wife, Ms. Gladys Ninsiima, 42, Sunday had been experiencing stress and had previously attempted to take his own life. Neighbours reported that he had been taking poisonous liquids and had tried to hang himself before, but was rescued.
The incident occurred on Saturday, November 15, 2025, when Ninsiima left home to buy maize, and she received a distress call that her husband had hanged himself. Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful.

The local chairperson, Mr. Kenneth Byaaki, expressed concern, stating that this is the fourth such incident in Rubaare town council, highlighting the need for counseling and support.
Police have urged the public to seek help when facing challenges, rather than resorting to suicide.
