RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA – The territorial police in Rukungiri are hunting for suspects allegedly involved in the murder of Brian Ahereza, a 25-year-old resident of Rwebihondo Cell, Nyabushenyi Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-county, Rukungiri District.
Ahereza is alleged to have been lynched by a mob on suspicion of breaking a makeshift wooden structure at Minera Hot Springs, Omukatojo Cell, during the night of October 29, 2025.
Immediately after the killing, the irate mob removed the body and dumped it in a nearby water stream. A concerned citizen informed Tindimwebwa Anita, who reported the matter to the police.
The police visited the crime scene, processed and documented evidence, and conveyed the body to Rwakabengo HC III for a postmortem examination.Investigations are ongoing as confirmed by ASP Elly Maate, Kigezi Police Spokesperson .
