Kanungu, Uganda – Kanungu District police are investigating the death of Abraham Mugarura, a 30-year-old resident of Karonde Village, Nyakinoni Parish, in Kanungu District.
On April 3, 2025, at approximately 8:00 AM, the LC II chairperson received a call from Byaruhanga Gad, chairperson of Karonde Village, reporting that Mugarura had been found dead in a farm belonging to Kururagire.
The LC II chairperson immediately reported the incident to the Katete Police Post for further investigation. Preliminary reports suggest the deceased had been drinking at Kemigisha Rhoda’s bar prior to his death, and poisoning is suspected.
The scene of the crime was visited and processed by the Kihihi Police, including a canine unit. However, the scene had been disturbed.
The body was taken to Kihihi Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination. Following the post-mortem, the body was released to the family for burial. External injuries, including bruises on the left triceps, were noted.
This information was confirmed by ASP Elly Maate, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson who also stressed that Investigations into the cause of death are ongoing.
