BUSHENYI – Igara East Member of Parliament Hon. Michael Mawanda Maranga has launched a maize seed distribution initiative targeting the entire constituency, starting with Kyeizooba Sub-county to boost agricultural productivity.
The first phase has covered five parishes of Nyamiyaga, Bwera, Kitagata, Kararo and Buyanja.
The agricultural inputs were delivered through the MP’s office, represented by Joshua Asingwire, and were officially received by the respective Local Council One chairpersons.

During the distribution exercise, Kyeizooba Sub-county LC3 Chairperson Taremwa Victor Bakikunde urged LC1 leaders to distribute the seeds to residents with transparency and humility.
Bakikunde cautioned local leaders and beneficiaries against selling or consuming the distributed grains, emphasizing that they are strictly meant for planting to secure future food supplies and income for the community.
The initiative is expected to improve food security and household incomes in Igara East as planting season approaches.
