Bushenyi, Uganda – The race for the Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality parliamentary seat in Uganda is heating up, with the NRM primaries shaping up to be a three-way contest between former candidate Marvin Baryaruha, newcomers Hajji Iddi Basajjabalaba, and Ndyakira Nickolas.
Early indications suggest a landslide victory for Basajjabalaba.
Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality, encompassing Ishaka, Nyakabirizi, and Central divisions, is witnessing a surge in campaign activity. A recent survey across several wards—including Ruharo, Bunyarigi, Central, Ryamabengwa, Buramba, Kashenyi, Ward 4, Town Ward, and parts of Nyakabirizi—reveals a strong preference for Basajjabalaba.

Preliminary data from Central Division projects Basajjabalaba’s chances of winning at a commanding 70%, rising to an impressive 95% in Ishaka Division.
While Baryaruha garners significant support in the surveyed areas of Nyakabirizi, falling only slightly behind Basajjabalaba, Ndyakira Nickolas trails considerably. Precise figures for Ndyakira’s support remain elusive, as many potential voters are yet to publicly declare their allegiance.

Basajjabalaba’s strong showing is likely fueled by his prominent family connections; he is the son of the renowned businessman and tycoon, El-Hajji Hassan Basajjabalaba. The campaign continues to unfold, but these early statistics paint a clear picture of Basajjabalaba’s substantial lead in the race.
End.
