Rubirizi,Uganda – The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Rubirizi District Chapter, has announced plans to officially endorse the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for the presidency in the 2031 general elections.
The endorsement ceremony is scheduled for this Friday at the Rubirizi District Headquarters starting at 9:00 AM, and is expected to attract hundreds of supporters, mobilizers, and local leaders from across the district.
According to the District PLU Coordinator, Mr. Twinamatsiko Nicholas, the event will mark a historic moment for the people of Rubirizi as they publicly declare their full and unwavering support for Gen. Kainerugaba’s presidential bid.

“This will be a historic day for Rubirizi. We are coming together as one people to declare our support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a leader we believe embodies patriotism, stability, and the generational transformation of Uganda,” Twinamatsiko said.
He said the ceremony is not merely symbolic, but a strategic step towards strengthening grassroots structures and consolidating support for the PLU’s national agenda ahead of the 2031 polls.
The coordinator further revealed that all attendees will be required to come with their National Identification Cards to facilitate registration, documentation, and mobilization for the forthcoming electoral cycle.
He called upon youth, women, elders, and opinion leaders to turn up in large numbers and participate in what he described as a defining moment for the district’s political future.
The Rubirizi endorsement comes amid growing momentum for PLU across several districts in Western Uganda, where the movement has intensified mobilization and ideological orientation among its supporters.
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who also serves as the Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda, is widely seen by his supporters as a continuity candidate capable of safeguarding national security while championing socio-economic transformation, youth empowerment, and Pan-African unity.
The Friday event is expected to set the tone for similar endorsements across Greater Bushenyi and the wider Ankole sub-region.
