Bushenyi, Uganda – Traffic police at Ishaka Police Station are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on May 20, 2025, at 9:10 a.m. at the Nyampungye blind bend along the Ishaka-Rubirizi road.
The accident, registered under TAR 27/2025, resulted in the death of 62-year-old Kabatereine Jawad, a resident of Rwemirokora, Ishaka Bushenyi Municipality.
Mr. Jawad was a passenger on an unidentified motorcycle traveling along the road when he was struck by an unidentified motor vehicle traveling from Kyamuhunga towards Ishaka. The driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene, leaving the motorcycle behind. The whereabouts of the motorcycle rider are currently unknown.
Police responded to the scene, retrieved Mr. Jawad’s body, and transported it to Kampala International University Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SP Apollo Tayeebwa confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspect. The public will be updated on the progress of the investigation.
The police are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect. They also urge all road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure the safety of life and property.
