KIRUHURA – An accident in Sanga Town Council along Mbarara – Masaka Highway has claimed lives of two people.
The accident happened today (Friday) 16th August 2024 at around 05:45am and involved two motorcycles, a fuso Milk tanker registration number UBB 905J from Masaka side and a Fuso Truck registration number UBG 727P that was carrying matooke from Mbarara side.
Its reported that the two motorcycles had a head on collision claiming two lives of Mugabe Eric 48 years a resident of Lwengo district and Gumisiriza Abubakari a resident of Isingiro district. The bodies of the deceased were removed and taken by their relatives before traffic police got to the scene.
The driver of the milk tanker was also seriously injured and taken to a yet to be identified medical facility in Mbarara city for medication.
Sp Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region Police spokesperson confirmed this incident to press stressing that preliminary investigations indicate reckless driving as the cause of the accident.
