BUSHENYI – Kyamuhunga Peoples Sacco (KYAPS) has officially celebrated its silver Jubilee (25 years of service) in a function held at Butare Playground, Kyamuhunga Town Council in Bushenyi district where it awarded its best clients and founders.
In its 25 years tenure, Kyamuhunga Peoples Sacco (KYAPS) has a total of 5,000 members with share capital of ugx 9Billion, Loan portfolio worth ugx 35Billion and Savings of ugx. 15Billion.
At the mega celebrations, the Chief Guest was Bushenyi district Woman Member Of Parliament Hon Annet Mugisha representing the President of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa.
Hon Annet Mugisha thanked President Museveni for touching humanity and adding value in community. She tasked sacco leaders to be role models, be determined, work together and be focused in decision making in order to achieve a common goal.
According to Mr Turyamureeba Paul Kahigi, KYAPS Board Chairperson, “through sipporting the community financially, the Sacco has helped Ugandans to generate income, educate their children and uplift their standards of living”.
He continues to thank the youths who decided to join the Sacco since it has helped them in fighting poverty giving an example of youths who have acquired boda boda loans and fought unemployment in the society.
Mr Atwizukire JohnBosco, General manager KYAPS says the Sacco has been sensitizing on commercial saving and empowered members through trainings thus arguing Ugandans to join the Sacco and be witnesses of positive financial change in their respective communities.
The function was also graced by Mr Robert Atuhirwe Bushenyi RDC who thanked Saccos for helping the government by supporting active poor and fighting poverty in families.
