Justice Dr Zeija made the call at Ntungamo Magistrate’s Court during the Court Open Day, highlighting the judiciary’s efforts to train religious and traditional leaders as court mediators.
He outlined ongoing reforms, including decentralizing the Court of Appeal, expanding High Court circuits, recruiting more judicial staff, and rolling out mobile courts. The judiciary aims to foster justice, equity, and efficiency through these initiatives.
The Ntungamo magistrate court has intensified efforts to clear old cases through “Operation Backlog Clearance” (OBC).

The district has also earmarked land for the construction of High Court premises. Local leaders urged the courts to strengthen systems in administering justice, addressing issues like money lending and corruption. The Court Open Day aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and access to justice, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
