Bushenyi, Uganda – Disorder marred the LC1 NRM leadership elections at Ryamabengwa Polling Station in Ryamabengwa Cell, Central Division, Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The elections were held at Ryamabengwa Primary School.
Initial complaints about voters not being registered were resolved amicably, allowing all eligible voters to participate. However, the voting process was fraught with ongoing disputes.
In a tense atmosphere, Mr. Magamabo (Kikongo) emerged victorious in the NRM Chairperson race, defeating his opponents. The Chairmanship seat was contested by only two candidates, Mr. Magezi George and Mr. Mwesigye. Mr. Magezi George secured a decisive win.

In the Katungu Cell election, also within Ryamabengwa Ward, Kyokushaba Annet prevailed, securing 59 votes against Kifaaru John’s 51. Tumuramye Felix garnered 12 votes, and Kabwenero Fabiano received 8 votes.
Unfortunately, the election at Ryamabengwa Polling Station culminated in a physical altercation. The scuffle resulted in damage to the polling agent’s shirt and injuries, with some individuals sustaining significant bleeding.
