Kabale, Uganda – Kabale police are investigating the death of an unidentified male adult whose body was found floating in a river in Mushenyi “A” village, Bigaga parish, Butanda sub-county, Kabale district.
On May 13, 2025, local area chairman Baburata Edison received reports of a body in the river. He and other residents subsequently discovered the body and notified Butanda police.
A suspected murder case file was opened, and the homicide team, led by Acting D/CID Officer D/IP Samuel Barijunaki, visited the scene and documented the evidence. The body was retrieved and taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for examination. Statements were recorded from those who initially discovered the body.
ASP Elly Maate, Kigezi Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who has a missing relative is asked to visit the hospital mortuary for identification purposes.
