Rubirizi,Uganda – Rubirizi Assistant Resident District Commissioner Masius Kakoni has warned that government workers in the district who neglect their duties will be arrested and charged.
He singled out staff who take bribes, report late, or are negligent at work, saying such conduct violates national laws and denies the public proper service delivery.
He urged all public servants to love their jobs and execute them professionally with a code of conduct while serving the community, noting that anyone who feels they cannot serve government should resign before they are arrested and charged in court.

Kakoni made the remarks while officiating as chief guest at a health department performance review meeting held at Rubirizi District Headquarters.
The meeting, attended by district officials, health facility in-charges, midwives, clinical officers, and security officers, reviewed both achievements and challenges in the health sector.
Kakoni further warned that local leaders who connive with technical staff to steal government property, especially drugs from health facilities, will be arrested. He urged local leaders to work with health workers to protect medicines so that patients get proper government services, noting that such behavior undermines government programs and service delivery.
He called on officials to cooperate, stop hypocrisy and bad attitudes, which he said could lead to dismissal.
Rubirizi District Health Officer Dr. Aidah Nankynga said the district ranked 50th in health service delivery nationwide, according to a recent Ministry of Health report. She stated that the district will intensify efforts to improve its ranking through staff workshops and training, alongside community sensitization to ensure people continue seeking care at government health facilities for preventable diseases.
Dr. Nankynga challenged health workers to put more effort into giving back to government through quality community service delivery. She vowed to personally go to the ground to track down any health worker who is unwilling to work or is negligent at their duty station, and to ensure proper records are maintained.
Meanwhile, Rubirizi Chief Administrative Officer Paul Samuel Mbiiwa urged residents and local leaders to continuously report government workers who are not performing their duties well. He cited cases of indiscipline, corruption, neglect of duty, reporting to work drunk, late-coming, and absenteeism. He noted that such workers will be taken to court for prosecution, while others will face disciplinary processes that could lead to dismissal, demotion, or salary reduction.
Mbiiwa urged health workers to be professional, love their jobs, be smart, use respectful language, and treat patients with dignity.
