BUSOGA – UGANDA
The Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV, has led the Busoga Kingdom in mourning the late Omukama of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, during the 26th Gabula Day celebrations in Buyende District.
The event, held at Kitaidhumba Community Primary School, was marked by flags of Uganda, East Africa and Busoga flying at half-mast, while kingdom officials dressed in traditional attire in honor of the fallen monarch. The Kyabazinga prayed for comfort for the people of Tooro, the Babiito royal clan and all those grieving the loss of Omukama Oyo, quoting Matthew 5:4.

Busoga Katuukiro Dr. Joseph Muvawala also called for a one-minute silence and announced that he would lead a 10-person Busoga delegation, alongside Prince Richard Gabula, to Fort Portal for the late king’s burial.
Beyond the mourning, the celebrations highlighted Busoga’s development initiatives. The Kyabazinga broke ground for a new school block at Kitaidhumba Primary School, while reporting support to farmers through 280,000 tissue-culture banana plantlets, cassava cuttings and goats. Youth have also benefited from vocational training, while elderly residents have received modern homes.
Minister for the Presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda commended the Kyabazinga for championing grassroots development and extended condolences to the Tooro Kingdom.
