MITOOMA,UGANDA — Former Sheema South Member of Parliament, Prof. Elijah Mushemeza, and former Ruhinda South MP, Capt. Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda, have urged residents of Mitooma to embrace mindset change in agriculture as a way to fight poverty.
Prof. Mushemeza made the call on 27th July 2026 while speaking as chief guest at a get-together meeting for Ruhinda South Constituency residents. The meeting was organized by Capt. Kahonda and held at his home in Kyamuyanga Cell, Kabira Town Council, Mitooma District.
The purpose of the gathering was to bring people together and discuss ways of boosting household incomes.

Prof. Mushemeza said residents must engage in modern farming and rear high-quality livestock breeds in order to compete favorably in the current market. He noted that mindset change is critical if communities are to move from subsistence to commercial agriculture.
Capt. Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda said the main aim of the meeting was to ensure continuity of the projects he started while in Parliament. He added that Ruhinda South Constituency is already connected to several funders both within and outside the country to support community development initiatives.
