KAMPALA, UGANDA
National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has announced a change in the party’s acting leadership, appointing Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe as the new Acting President of the party.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Kyagulanyi thanked Dr. Lina Zedriga Waru, the Deputy President for Northern Uganda, for serving as Acting President over the past four months.

He praised Dr. Zedriga for her commitment to the party, saying she had successfully steered NUP during the period and kept the party’s mission alive.
“As her tenure comes to an end, I am pleased to announce that Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, Deputy President Eastern Region, will be taking over as Acting President of the National Unity Platform,” Kyagulanyi said.
He called upon all party leaders, members and supporters to extend their full cooperation and support to Nambeshe as he assumes the new responsibility.
The leadership transition comes as the opposition party continues to strengthen its internal structures and mobilize supporters ahead of future political activities. Nambeshe, who has served as the party’s Deputy President for Eastern Uganda and the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, is expected to oversee the party’s day-to-day affairs while Kyagulanyi continues with his engagements.
The announcement was accompanied by the party’s slogan, “People Power, Our Power,” reaffirming NUP’s commitment to its political agenda.
