RUBIRIZI – Hon. Cadet Benjamin, Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru County in Rubirizi District, has actively supported the residents of Mugogo Parish in Ryeru Sub-county by facilitating the grading of their road. The graded stretch runs from Ndekye Town, passing Mugogo Primary School and Mugogo Church of Uganda, all the way to Nyamushekye.
This important intervention was made possible through a partnership with the Rubirizi District Local Government and Ryeru Sub-county leadership, who provided fuel for the grading machinery. Hon. Cadet Benjamin noted that the previously poor road conditions had severely impacted the movement of farm produce to markets, hindered the transport of patients to health facilities, and negatively affected school children. The difficult terrain had led to increased school dropouts, absenteeism, and late arrivals. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that essential services reach all residents.
Furthermore, Hon. Cadet urged the residents to collaborate with local leaders in monitoring, maintaining, and actively participating in the upkeep of community access roads through “burungi bwansi” (community work). He emphasized that development is a shared responsibility between the government and the community. This road improvement will significantly assist residents in transporting their goods, taking patients to healthcare facilities, and enabling children to attend school without hardship.

Hon. Rwamunono Wilson Safari, the Area Councillor for Mugogo Parish, lauded Hon. Cadet Benjamin’s support, commending the provision of funds for fuel to grade the roads. He stated that the now-passable roads will greatly benefit residents in marketing their produce and accessing essential services with greater ease, while also ensuring children can get to school without difficulty.
Hon. Wilson remarked that the poor state of the roads had previously hampered service delivery, particularly during the rainy season. He described Hon. Cadet Benjamin as a visionary leader adept at lobbying and advocating for his constituents at all levels of government, ensuring Mugogo residents receive their fair share of development.
Madam Irwaniro Mariam, the Headteacher at Mugogo Primary School, expressed her gratitude to Hon. Cadet Benjamin for his timely intervention in grading the community road, which serves the school, church, and the wider community.
She explained that many pupils had struggled to attend school due to impassable roads and flooding, which had a detrimental effect on their academic performance and general service delivery at the school. Madam Irwaniro appealed to local leaders to continue supporting and addressing community challenges, specifically highlighting the lack of water and electricity in their area.
Meanwhile, Rev. Sunday Julius, Vicar of Mugogo Church of Uganda, described Hon. Cadet Benjamin as a committed, hardworking, and selfless leader who effectively lobbies and advocates for grassroots communities to access essential services.
He noted that the road from Ndekye main road to Mugogo Church had been in a deplorable condition, making it difficult for congregants to attend church services. Rev. Sunday thanked Hon. Cadet for his intervention, stating that residents had suffered for many years. He appealed to the government to provide marram for the road and also requested the installation of electricity in their area to facilitate economic activities, particularly at night. He mentioned that the church is currently unable to power its musical instruments due to the absence of electricity.
