KIKUUBE,UGANDA – The Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs, Hon. Mary Mugasa, has asked the people of Kikuube to unite behind the NRM candidate Paddy Kisembo to retain the district seat in Thursday’s LC5 by-election.
Mugasa made the call in Kiziranfumbi Sub-county on Monday after holding meetings with different groups to reach a consensus.
“I want to thank God that at this point in time we are moving as a team. Everybody has been reconciled to follow the party position,” Mugasa said.

She urged non-residents of Kikuube to desist from fueling conflict for selfish interests.
“We thank Kikuube well-wishers who are from Hoima City, Kampala, and other areas, but please let us be. We want to handle the issues of Kikuube ourselves without interference to avoid future blame games,” she said.
“Kikuube is 95% NRM. We don’t want our members to be misled into electing the opposition. Let us not embarrass ourselves. We set a good record and voted for President Museveni and flag bearers. Let us maintain that record,” Mugasa added.
NRM Director of Mobilisation Dr. Rosemary Seninde said reconciled teams had understood the party position and pledged to support Paddy Kisembo to the end.
Seninde said the party is aiming not just for a win, but for a big margin against the opposition candidate.
“Unlike in most by-elections that fetch very low voter turnout, we are working to ensure the Kikuube by-election attracts a very huge turnout,” she said. She discouraged voters from supporting the opposition out of internal disgruntlement.
“We can’t afford to give an opportunity to the opposition to penetrate Kikuube, an NRM stronghold. Voting the opposition can be a very big problem to NRM in future in Kikuube and the Bunyoro sub-region,” Seninde warned.
Paddy Kisembo said victory looks likely after reconciling with previously disgruntled members.
“We have reconciled with our fellow members who were disgruntled, and they have committed to support and canvas votes for me. It is a good thing, and I anticipate an unprecedented big win,” he said.
The NRM campaign team also includes Hon. Jane Alisemera Babiiha, Kikuube Woman MP Flora Natumanya, and the District Executive Committee.
