Kabale,Uganda – In a case that has left residents of Kabale reeling, police have arrested a woman accused of killing her own 2-year-old child and dumping the body in a water stream.
The territorial police in Kabale say Akankwasa Silvia was spotted by locals on the evening of 14th May and again on the morning of 15th May without her child. The disappearance raised immediate suspicion.
Locals reported the matter to LC1 Chairperson Samaki Stella, who confronted the suspect. When Silvia could not account for the child, residents began a search and found the child’s clothes dumped in a toilet at her residence.
The chairperson then alerted Kabale Police. During questioning, Silvia allegedly admitted to killing her child and dumping the body in a stream at Butobere.
Police, including SOCO, the homicide team, and the fire brigade led by the DCID Officer, responded to the scene and recovered the body from the water. It has been taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.
The suspect is in custody as investigations continue to establish the motive behind the killing.
