RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA – The Territorial Police in Rukungiri are investigating the death of Vian Ainembabazi, a 32-year-old resident of Omutaba village, Kyokyezo parish, Nyamweru sub-county, Rubanda district.
Ainembabazi allegedly died after being assaulted by her in-laws in Nyamabale village, Kafunjo Parish, Nyakishenyi Sub-County, Rukungiri district, on December 3, 2025.
The incident stems from a domestic dispute between Ainembabazi and her husband, which led her to return to her parents’ home. The situation escalated, with the husband allegedly attacking her and her parents, and engaging in destructive behavior, including throwing clothes into a pit latrine and stealing iron sheets.
On the day of the incident, the sons of Ainembabazi’s father-in-law allegedly chased and lynched her. The incident was reported to Nyakishenyi Police Station, and an investigation is ongoing.
