Former Buganda Kingdom minister Israel Mayengo has emphasized that a recent visit by Buganda elders to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, was simply a courtesy call and not a political endorsement for the upcoming 2026 elections.
In response to Kyagulanyi sharing photos on social media showcasing the visit, Mayengo, in an online interview, disparagingly referred to Kyagulanyi as “omuvubuka oyo [that boy].” He stressed that Buganda’s traditional leadership remains neutral, engaging respectfully with all political figures who honor the kingdom’s values.
