RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – The police warning came during a community security meeting in Nyangorogoro II, Magambo Subcounty, where residents were sensitized about the effects of witchcraft and domestic violence. Afande Twesigye Caleb, the District Community Liaison Officer, described witchcraft as a “backward culture” that people should abandon.
The police urged residents to promote mindset change, particularly among those who still believe in witchcraft, and to ignore rumors and false beliefs about witch doctors or traditional healers having real powers. Afande Arinitwe Johns, the Officer in Charge of Magambo Police Station, emphasized that such beliefs are a result of ignorance, poverty, and lack of education.
Local leaders, including Mr. Byamugisha Saverino and Hon. Kinjinia Molly, commended the police initiative, encouraging residents to focus on their health, work hard, and avoid witch doctors. They also urged residents to strengthen their faith in God and work towards fighting poverty and hunger.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to building a strong partnership with the community by continuing sensitization and awareness campaigns across the district.
