Mitooma, Uganda – Ruhinda South MP Hon. Captain Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda has publicly challenged a group within the National Resistance Movement (NRM), accusing them of sowing discord amongst party supporters.
The “NRM Nyenkundire Group,” allegedly led by former Mitooma District NRM Chairperson Byaboneka Wilbeforce, is spreading misinformation about several candidates perfomance, including Hon. Agasha Juliet Bashiisha, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayeebwa, and Hon. Kahonda himself.
Wilbeforce, who lost the recent NRM primary elections, alleges irregularities but has been criticized by Kahonda for using deceptive tactics to undermine the efforts of other candidates. Kahonda contends that the group is misrepresenting the record of successful leaders, highlighting the tangible achievements, including schools, health centers, and electricity infrastructure, brought to the Ruhinda South constituency.

Speaking at the Kabira Subcounty NRM headquarters, Kahonda forcefully condemned Wilbeforce’s actions, describing them as a deliberate attempt to harm the party’s reputation and mislead voters for personal gain. He pointed out the stark contrast between the progress in Ruhinda South and the lack of development in Wilbeforce’s own constituency, Katenga, despite its longer history within the NRM.
“I am the NRM Chairperson for Ruhinda South, and I will not stand by while he spreads lies in my constituency,” Kahonda stated. “He has failed to deliver for Katenga, yet he claims to represent NRM values. Here, we have seen tangible improvements in services, and voters should not be swayed by his false claims.”
Hon. Kahonda urged voters to resist the misinformation campaign and support their chosen leaders in the upcoming NRM primaries on July 17, 2025. He stressed the importance of unity within the party.
End.
