Bushenyi, Uganda – The race for the NRM Vice Chairperson position in Bushenyi District is shaping up to be a fierce showdown, particularly between incumbent Woman MP Annet Mugisha and formidable challenger Annet Tibemanya.
With three women vying for the powerful seat, the upcoming election promises a dramatic clash of political titans.
Annet Tibemanya, the current Deputy Speaker of Bushenyi District Council, threw her hat into the ring on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, declaring her candidacy to The Server Uganda.

Having served her community diligently since 2016, Tibemanya, a resident of Katungu Cell in Ishaka Division, framed her campaign on a platform of unwavering commitment to the NRM and a deep desire to further serve the people of Bushenyi. She sees this election as the perfect opportunity to elevate her contributions to the district.
However, Tibemanya faces stiff opposition. Standing in her path is not only Faridah Mutambara, but also the incumbent Woman MP, Annet Mugisha – a formidable opponent with established political clout.
The rivalry between Mugisha and Tibemanya is already palpable, generating considerable buzz on the streets of Bushenyi.
Whispers of irregularities have even begun to circulate, hinting at the high stakes involved and the intense pressure building before the May 23rd election at Bushenyi main stadium.
While the race for the chairmanship appears to be a foregone conclusion – with the incumbent El Hajji Hassan Basajjabalaba expected to secure an easy victory – the vice-chairmanship contest is anything but predictable.
The battle between Mugisha and Tibemanya, two powerful women within the NRM, promises to be the defining narrative of this election, drawing significant attention and raising the stakes considerably.
The outcome will not only determine the district’s leadership but also reshape the political landscape of Bushenyi for years to come.
End.
