Kanungu, Uganda – A fatal motorcycle collision occurred at 9:00 PM on May 19, 2025, in Karoni cell, Western Ward, Nyamirama Town Council, Kanungu District. Two Bajaj Boxer motorcycles were involved.
The first motorcycle, UFW 808N, a red Bajaj Boxer, was ridden by Twebaze Denis, 37, a resident of Kateramu cell, Kikonji parish, Bwambara sub-county, Rukungiri district. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The second motorcycle, UEP 852E, also a red Bajaj Boxer, was ridden by Niwamannya Ivan, 25, a resident of Buyondo cell, Northern Ward, Nyamirama Town Council. A passenger on this motorcycle, Niwagaba Festo, 32, also of Buyondo cell, was also injured.
Police reports allege that the motorcycle ridden by Twebaze Denis, traveling from Kihihi towards Rukungiri, veered off course and collided with the oncoming motorcycle, UEP 852E, which was traveling from Nyamirama toward Kihihi.
Following the accident, police constable Matanda responded to the scene. The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The body of Twebaze Denis was transported to Nyamirama H/C III mortuary for a post-mortem examination. A sketch map of the scene was drawn. Both motorcycles were towed and secured at Nyamirama Police Station pending further investigation.
ASP Maate Elly, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
